Highway 14 Corridor

Highway 14 Corridor

Connecting the City of Santa Fe to the small hamlets of Cerrillos and Madrid, the NM 14 corridor follows the historic Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway. The Turquoise Trail was a key trade route for Native Americans and later Spanish traders who used the Turquoise mined in the hills for various purposes. The small towns of Madrid, Golden, and Cerrillos display reminders of a simpler time.

As a testament to the area’s beauty, many films used the areas along this route as a backdrop to early Western films. You can explore these backdrops in the Cerrillos Hills State Park, which offers hiking and equestrian trails through vast open landscapes.
