Broker Spotlight / HOME May 2018 article

“Growing up on Long Island, the stars faded from all the light pollution. I am so happy to be able to see the Milky Way again!”

Carol’s life in Santa Fe began in 1980 when she won a violin audition with the Santa Fe Opera orchestra. “I had no idea where this place was, but many colleagues told me I would love it here and they were right.” For ten years, Carol continued living and working in New York City while coming to Santa Fe for the summers to play in the Opera. “Eventually I met my husband John, while playing pool at Evangelos, and that was it! I would get homesick for Santa Fe when I went back to the City, so I moved here via the Amtrak from Penn Station to Lamy. I haven’t missed New York yet, except the Chinese food.”

Cup of coffee and coffee beans on slab of wood

Credit where it’s due: The Northwest is probably the coffee capital of the United States, but there might not be a better place in the country to actually sit back and enjoy your coffee than Santa Fe. We have all the amenities of the big city with the laid-back vibe of a small town. So this isn’t the fast-food-style coffee we’re talking about. A cafe in Santa Fe is as cozy and inviting as your favorite armchair. Here are four of our favorites.

Iconik Coffee

Iconik Coffee maintains a very 90s feel, harkening back to an age when coffee shops flourished across the country before Starbucks became the McDonalds of the industry. Iconik plays 90s alternative rock and has that same cool, downtown…

Dale Ball South, Santa Fe

Here’s something remarkable about the outdoors in Santa Fe: The elevation takes some getting used to, but once your body has made an adjustment to it, hiking and biking in New Mexico will turn you into a superhero.

Track & Field magazine has recommended that professional athletes consider living above 7,000 feet over sea level to develop stronger lungs and better blood flow. The thin air forces your body to produce more red blood cells, resulting in more oxygen being delivered to the muscles as you work out.

Santa Fe checks in with an elevation of 7,199 feet, which makes The City Different an ideal choice for homebuyers looking to maintain an active lifestyle.

What we’re saying is: As you…

“I love the diversity of Santa Fe”

J.C. is well known throughout the community for his years as an amateur, then professional, boxer on the national circuit. His 150 – 200 amateur fights all over the country prepared him for a professional boxing career during which he won North American and World titles. In all, his record for the 28 pro fights he had is 22-5-1. Quite impressive! “It feels like I’m hurt maybe a little less in real estate,” J.C. laughs.

Born and raised in Santa Fe, J.C. is now raising his own family and feels that Santa Fe offers a great pace for young people. “My family is everything!” J.C. exclaims with pride. “My four kids — Rocco, Joaquin, Issac and Juliana — range in age from 2 to 12 and are a driving motivation for my…

For Italian Food: Andiamo!

Italian restaurants seem to be the only eateries that can get away with putting an exclamation mark in the name. One of our favorite things about Andiamo! is the small menu. They serve what they’ve mastered to perfection. We really like the Caesar salad with anchovy oil, and…
